Extend your Pool Season!

Ways to Extend your Pool's Season

Theres nothing quite as refreshing as jumping into a pool on a hot summer day. Now imagine being able to do this into the fall months as well. Picture yourself gliding through warm relaxing water, on a brisk October evening, steam coming off of your pool, and leaves changing colors on the trees around you.

Think you need to close your pool as soon as the weather begins to cool? Think again!
By using Pool Heat Pumps (such as the TropiCal Pool Heater), you will be able to extend the duration of your pool season well into the fall.

Heat pumps work to heat your pool's water even when the outside temperature is as low as 45 degrees and there is little to no sunlight.  You can use the programmable thermostat features on the heat pump to stabilize and adjust temperature control. Because Heat Pumps use the ambient air temperature to transfer (rather than create) heat, it requires very little electricity. This makes Heat Pumps more economical than electric or gas heating.

In addition to being a smart choice financially, Heat Pumps are also smart Environmentally.
They are quiet, no fossil fuels are used, and noxious gas emissions are eliminated, helping minimize your carbon footprint.

Turn Your Hot Tub Into A Cool Retreat!

Did you know you can transform your Hot Tub into a Cold tub?

In the cold winter months relaxing in steamy, hot water can be soothing, and help with aches and pains.  As the weather gets warmer, we tend to find ourselves using our spas less frequently. This is often because the temperature is set too high to enjoy during late spring and summer months.

By adjusting the setting on your spa or hot tub to operate at a lower temperature, you can extend your spa season. There are several benefits to using your spa as a "cold tub".  Instead of going to the public pool, you can enjoy a peaceful, and relaxing soak in your own spa from the privacy and convenience of your own home, reduce your electric bill, and enjoy inflammatory relief.

When you lower the temperature on your spa, it requires less energy to maintain heat. By reducing the energy expended by the spa, you may see a decrease in your monthly electric bill. The fastest way to cool off your water is to shut off the heater completely, and remove the cover. Once the spa is cooled to the desired temperature, you can use your heater to maintain it, or choose to leave it off for the season.

The next step is choosing the temperature that is right for you. This range will vary with each individual. The body operates at 98.6 degrees, after several minutes in water that is below body temperature you will start to feel cool. Some may choose to set their spa's around 80-90 degrees, while others will choose to use their spa closer to 70-80 degrees.

One of the benefits of cold water hot tubs is the cold water itself. Immersing the body in cold water helps reduce inflammation. This can be particularly helpful for those with joint inflammation and sports injuries. Using your cold tub for about fifteen minutes after a workout can also help the body restore. Soaking in cold water can also increase your metabolic rate.

Using your spa at lower temperatures will not negatively effect your water's chemistry, or require the use of any special products. Simply balance your water's chemistry as you normally would.

Now its time to shut off that heater, and relax, refresh, and renew!
